Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised MP for starting medical and engineering courses in Hindi for the benefit of students

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday virtually inaugurated the ‘Prime Minister’s College of Excellence’ in all 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary approach in the effective implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP). The main event took place at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College in Indore, which has now been developed as a PM College of Excellence. Shah praisedMadhya Pradesh as one of the first states to actually implement an adapted NEP, thus taking a giant leap towards the long-desired goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
Amit Shahin his address mentioned that Modi envisagesIndia as a developed country by the year 2047, the centenary anniversary of India’s independence. He said the NEP itself would play a major role for that purpose by basically making the foundation of the education system in the country stronger. Shah commented, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target to make India a developed nation by 2047 when the country would be celebrating 100 years of Independence. NEP will play a major role in it. In order to get rid of the tag of ‘developing country’ one needs to take care of education since it is the foundation of any nation’s development and PM Modi has shown farsightedness in bringing NEP that becomes the need for the next 25 years.”
Speaking further, the Union Home Minister added that NEP is indeed designed to take Indian students up to global standards: bringing about cohesion in the diversified cultural fabric of the country. He said, “NEP will not only get our students to stand on par with people of the world but will also unite the country’s culture. It is focused on quality and not quantity and provides an opportunity for students to think out of the box. NEP ensures their 360-degree development.” Shah has been found praising Madhya Pradesh’s tenure for starting medical and engineering courses in Hindi, for making these subjects easily graspable for the children.
The event was also addressed by Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, State Higher Education Minister, Mohan Yadav and other dignitaries. Setting up these Colleges of Excellence, which would impart employment-oriented education with NEP standards, would cost approximately Rs 486 crore, officials said.
Currently the Union Home Minister, Shah earlier in the day, joined a massive sapling plantation drive that showcased the multi-dimensional growth of Indore. He also commended the city for frequently being ranked as the cleanest city in India and recently becoming an educational hub. “Indore, which is the cleanest city of India and a cotton centre, will also be known, henceforth, as an education hub,” he said. Shah also laid emphasis on development in the pharmaceutical and automobile sectors whereby Indore has become the financial capital of the state.
The NEP under Modi government visualizes change in India’s Education System to directly foster holistic development, critical thinking, and creativity. It strongly emphasizes mother-tongue-based medium of instruction up to Grade 5, multidisciplinary education, and flexible learning pathways. It also lays integration of Vocational Education in the mainstream education so that students acquire marketable skills.
Under the PM Colleges of Excellence initiative, it ties into the vision of the NEP by providing state-of-the-art facilities and curricula that are specifically designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for the future. This would mean that such institutions will be beacons of excellence in education and innovation, advancement, and research.
Inauguration of these colleges, therefore, is a massive step towards the realization of these objectives ensconced in the NEP and towards raising the educational profile of Madhya Pradesh in particular and India in general.
