The Directorate of Medical Education of Madhya Pradesh has re-opened the registration window for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate, NEET PG 2024 Counselling. The DME took this decision in view of a final order by the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court. The registration portal was reopened at 5:00 PM February 6, 2025, and stays open until the end of the day on 12:00 AM February 10, 2025. Fresh candidates now can complete registration through the website of DME at dme.mponline.gov.in only after they had qualified for the NEET PG 2024.
The official notification issued by the DME stated, “In compliance with the final order of Hon’ble High Court Indore bench in WP 43051/2025 dated February 05, 2025, the portal for registration shall be opened from February 6, 2025 (5 pm) to February 10, 2025 (12 AM) for fresh candidates who have qualified in NEET PG 2024. The notice regarding one-time registration published on October 03, 2024, stands cancelled.”
This is following the earlier cancellation of the single registration notice on October 3, 2024. Earlier, the whole process was stopped after multiple petitions and complaints related to the counseling process timeline and procedural fairness surfaced in court. The whole incident took a nasty turn when the Supreme Court of India intervened with the NEET PG 2024 counseling process. The apex court led by a bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and K Vinod Chandran directed the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to progress with the Round III of the NEET PG counselling on All India Quota for the 2024 academic year. The order was issued while taking note of a plea that related to procedural delays and irregularities in the second round of the state counseling conducted in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
The petitioners, who are three NEET PG candidates from Madhya Pradesh, submitted that the delay in the completion of Round II counselling in the state had resulted in quite a few anomalies at the national level in relation to the counselling process. As per the plea, early commencement of NEET PG AIQ Round III before the completion of Round II counselling in several states, including Madhya Pradesh, resulted in considerable problems for candidates. The petitioners contend that because of these delays, some ineligible quota applicants under state quota managed to block AIQ seats in those prestigious medical colleges that would have otherwise been available to eligible applicants.
This led to massive unrest among eligible candidates who felt unfairly disadvantaged. The petition cited the fact that delay and poor handling of counseling rounds compromised the whole process’s integrity and transparency. The Supreme Court was hence sought to protect the rights of these candidates and ensure that counseling rounds were completed on a fair and transparent timeline.
The Supreme Court’s order, thus, makes DME think through and rethink the counselling process by reopening its registration portal with an aim at correcting the errors that had created the procedural fallacy and presenting the freshers a chance in counselling. Several other eligible candidates, who hitherto failed to get themselves accommodated owing to the mistakes made in this regard, should breathe a sigh of relief because of this new order.
The reactivation of the registration portal and the cancellation of the previous one-time registration notice underscore the significance of ensuring a transparent and equitable counselling process. The High Court’s involvement and the subsequent Supreme Court directive reflect the judicial system’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of aspiring medical professionals and maintaining fairness in the country’s educational and professional selection processes.
Candidates are advised to approach the DME official portal and register as soon as possible within the set timeline. The portal now reopens with a new chance for NEET PG 2024 qualified candidates to get admissions in postgraduate medical courses in Madhya Pradesh. Stakeholders would expect the new counselling process to be fairer and more transparent so that the eligible candidates can fulfill their aspirations of pursuing academic or professional degrees without any hindrance.
