Orphaned Students Get New Hope at IP University

Share

According to the university, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) has a deadline of August 22 for applications for the newly created “orphan quota.” The aim of the project is to improve orphans’ chances of graduating from college and to guarantee that their absence of parental care does not impede their pursuit of educational opportunities.

According to the school, the orphan quota will be in effect for several undergraduate and graduate degrees. One more chair designated precisely across the current approved intake in each of the thirteen colleges of the university will make up this group together with one specialized center. Given the introduction last year of the “Single Girl Child Quota,” this action represents a major step in the institution’s dedication to inclusive education.

Offline use will be the orphaned limit. Applicants must provide a complete application together with the death certificates of both parents, approved by a licensed child protection agency, in order to be taken into account. Along with their bank draft of ₹2,500 made out to the Registrar, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, candidates must also turn in their papers to the University Facility Center at the Dwarka Campus before the deadline.

Vice-Chancellor Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma asserts that the project is motivated by a humanitarian point of view and seeks “to provide education to all; we don’t want such children to be deprived of higher education owing to financial constraints.” Moreover, he contends that the orphan quota shows the institution’s dedication to educational equality especially for underrepresented students who have further difficulties in meeting their academic goals.

Students chosen for the orphan quota will also be eligible for a complete tuition charge waiver under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) initiative. This financial aid aims to ensure that the cost of higher education does not prevent individuals who have already experienced significant personal losses from enrolling. Furthermore, the institution stated that it would strive to provide students accepted under this quota with the benefits of several federal and state government financial aid programs, hence creating a bigger safety net of support.

IP University’s decision might act as a model for other institutions thinking about enacting comparable policies; it is seen as a first for a public university. By developing a special policy for orphans, the group is attempting to close a hole in the higher education system that often left them at the mercies of harsh, open access routes or basic charity assistance.

Along with classes in law, business, and engineering given at IP University, the quota covers courses in disciplines including science, the humanities, and education. Because of this widespread acceptance, orphans have the freedom to choose their course of study rather than being restricted to particular disciplines.

Visit the official websites at www.ipu.ac.in and www.ipu.admissions.nic.in for course, admissions process, and eligibility criteria information. Since there is no online application process, all applications must be mailed or hand-delivered to the Dwarka Campus address.

Execution of the “orphan quota” promotes inclusion and variety across the campus, therefore enhancing the campaign of the institution. IP University has launched various projects in recent years to increase accessibility, including charge waivers, allocated seats, and creative outreach methods. Including several viewpoints from different socioeconomic levels, according to the government, enhances individual students and encourages a more varied academic environment.

The university’s public relations director, Nalini Ranjan, emphasized the need of following the August 22 deadline and encouraged qualified students to use this chance. Ranjan said, “We invite all qualified candidates to apply within the designated time frame so that they can benefit from this provision and obtain a seat in their favorite course.”

This policy supports IP University keep its image as a socially aware educational institution by accepting that knowledge and skill development are strong means of breaking cycles of poverty. One model for comparable programs in the Indian educational system may be the orphan quota, which seeks to provide chances for kids who might find it difficult to get a good higher education elsewhere.
