In a significant step toward strengthening science education in public institutions, Aahwahan Foundation has inaugurated state-of-the-art Model Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Laboratories at Government PU College, Domlur, Bengaluru, in collaboration with Nokia. The initiative, which marks the Foundation’s 508th Science Lab, aims to provide modern scientific infrastructure to empower government schools through quality education for every child. The newly established laboratories are expected to benefit over 2,000 underprivileged students annually, enabling them to access hands-on practical learning aligned with the PU syllabus and preparing them for academic and career opportunities in STEM fields.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Braja Kishore Pradhan, CEO & Founder of Aahwahan Foundation, said, “We are pleased to inaugurate this Model Science Laboratory as part of Aahwahan Foundation’s continued mission to ensure educational equity. Every lab we build is designed to bridge the gap between aspiration and opportunity for students studying in government institutions. By creating advanced scientific learning spaces, we aim to nurture curiosity, strengthen practical knowledge, and inspire young minds to pursue careers in science and technology. My core objective is to ensure that students studying in government schools have access to science laboratories that are as advanced and well-equipped as those in leading public schools in cities.”
The newly established Model Science Laboratories have been designed to offer facilities comparable to those found in leading private and international schools, while remaining fully aligned with the prescribed PU curriculum. The Model Physics Lab features modern apparatus and experimental setups that allow students to explore principles of mechanics, optics, electricity, magnetism, and modern physics through practical experiments. The Model Chemistry Lab is equipped with high-quality instruments, reagents, and dedicated workstations that support organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry practicals while maintaining strict safety protocols. Meanwhile, the Model Biology Lab includes high-resolution microscopes, specimen slides, anatomical models, and specialized equipment that enable detailed study of botany and zoology through observation-based learning.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished leaders including Mr. Rajesh Krishnan, Head of FPRA Operation; Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Sr. Director – HW Development; and Shri Girish Hegde, Director, Finance Controls Compliance at Infinera, now part of Nokia, along with members of the Aahwahan Foundation team, faculty, and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Krishnan Head of FPRA Operation stated, “ At Nokia, we believe that meaningful access to quality education creates the foundation for inclusive and sustainable growth. These Model Science Laboratories provide students with exposure to facilities that match global standards and empower them with practical skills essential for the future. We are proud to partner with Aahwahan Foundation in nurturing scientific talent and enabling transformative opportunities. ”
Beyond infrastructure development, the laboratories are designed to foster a transformative academic ecosystem where students can engage in experiential learning and develop scientific reasoning. Features such as proper ventilation, organized storage, water facilities, and safety systems ensure a secure and inspiring learning environment. These facilities encourage students to move beyond textbook-based learning and actively participate in experiments that strengthen conceptual understanding and analytical thinking.
With the inauguration of the laboratories at Government PU College, Domlur, Aahwahan Foundation reinforces its long-term commitment to strengthening India’s education ecosystem and nurturing a scientifically empowered generation through meaningful and impactful educational initiatives.
