IP University To Admit BPT, BOT Students Through CET As NEET Rule Deferred

Share

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University will now conduct its own entrance test for admission to Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) programmes for the upcoming academic session.

The move comes after the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions decided to defer the requirement of qualifying NEET UG for these courses. The earlier plan had made NEET mandatory from 2026, but this has now been pushed to the 2027–28 academic year.

With this change, the university will admit students to BPT and BOT through its Common Entrance Test (CET). Earlier, admissions were expected to shift fully to NEET-based merit.

The university said candidates will need to apply separately for these courses through CET. Details on eligibility, subjects and exam pattern will be announced soon.

Students who had already applied for BPT and BOT through NEET (UG) 2026 will still be considered as applicants for CET. The NEET-based application window for these courses has now been closed.

The decision brings back the university’s own admission route for another year, giving students an alternative to national-level testing for these programmes.
