IPU Celebrates 80th Independence Day, Highlights AI and Data Skills

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU) celebrated the 80th Independence Day on Saturday, with Vice Chancellor Dr Mahesh Verma hoisting the National Flag and calling for greater focus on national unity, youth development and emerging technologies.
Addressing the gathering, Verma remembered the freedom struggle and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to building a united India. He said preserving the country’s diversity and cultural heritage remains an important part of its national identity.
The Vice Chancellor said the university is preparing an action plan aligned with the Centre’s Viksit Bharat @2047 vision, with a focus on education, technology and health services.
He also highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics, saying the university is focusing on these areas to prepare students for emerging technologies and improve their global competitiveness.
Verma said youth and teachers have an important role to play in nation building and that the university will continue to contribute to the country’s development through education and technology.
