Ed-tech company STEM Metaverse has opened registrations for Bharat Builds 2047 – The STEM Utsav, the fourth edition of its national innovation competition for school students. Registrations opened on Vijayadashami, and the competition invites students from across India to respond to a single question: what they would create for the country in 2047, the year it completes 100 years of independence. Students can take part through their schools or register directly through a parent.
The competition builds on three earlier editions, which together reached over 120 schools in more than 80 cities and received over 6,000 entries. Instead of setting a fixed task, the format leaves the interpretation to the participant, who may respond through an artwork, a piece of writing, a working robotics model or a design prototype.
Every entry is built around one of five sub-themes. Clean & Green Bharat looks at clean air, water, energy and cities, while Healthy Bharat focuses on physical and mental health and community wellbeing. Connected Bharat deals with transport, communication and technology, Learning Bharat with new approaches to education, and Inclusive Bharat enabling designs and technology that ensures inclusivity for the specially abled and those across the autism spectrum.
Speaking on the launch, Ritika Amit Kumar, Founder & CEO of STEM Metaverse, said, “Over the past three editions, we have seen that children respond to open-ended questions with considered and original ideas. This year, we have asked them to think about the India they will help build by 2047. Our approach rests on the view that STEM is a way of thinking for every child, not only for those who go on to become engineers.”
Students then choose one of four categories. In Creative Art, participants paint, draw or craft their vision of India at 100, while Creative Writing accepts stories, poems and essays. The Robotics & Working STEM Models category requires a functioning AI powered or mechanical robotic model that solves a real problem. The Design Thinking Challenge takes participants through the full process of spotting a problem, generating possible solutions and prototyping the strongest idea.
Participation is free of charge, and each student may submit one entry in a single category. Entries will be judged in four age bands of 3–5, 6–8, 9–12 and 13–15 years, on innovativeness, concept clarity, originality and finesse in craft. Cash prizes of ₹5,000, ₹10,000, ₹25,000 and ₹50,000 will be awarded across these bands, from the youngest to the oldest. Selected art work will be featured in a digital art gallery in the metaverse, Creative writeups will be published in an anthology, Robotics and Design Thinking winners will receive robotics kits and be interviewed, and participating schools will be eligible for school-level honours.
Ahead of the submission deadline, STEM Metaverse will host an orientation webinar for schools and parents on 2 November 2026. Parents and teachers can register for the webinar via their website.
Submissions for the competition will be accepted until 10 January 2027. Winners will be announced on 26 January 2027, followed by a Grand Finale in the first week of February 2027, to be held both online and offline at a venue yet to be announced. After registering, participants will receive the detailed guidelines and submission format.
