Amity, SWAYAM Plus Join Hands to Launch Job-Focused Online Courses

Share

Amity University has partnered with SWAYAM Plus to roll out skill-based courses aimed at making students more job-ready.

The agreement was signed at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, bringing together a private university and a government-backed platform to expand access to online learning.

The focus is on practical skills that students and working professionals can use in real jobs. The courses will be available through the SWAYAM Plus platform, which is run by the Ministry of Education.

The idea is to make these programmes accessible to a wider group, including students in smaller towns, first-generation learners and people already in jobs who want to upgrade their skills. Many of the courses will be offered at no cost.

Amity has introduced a set of new courses on the platform. These include areas like artificial intelligence, data journalism, digital retail, analytics and leadership. There are also courses on life skills such as communication and self-awareness.

The content has been designed with input from industry, with an attempt to match what companies are currently looking for. The aim is to bridge the gap between what students study and what jobs demand.

The move also ties into the government’s broader target of increasing enrolment in higher education. Under the National Education Policy, India is aiming for a 50% gross enrolment ratio by 2035.

SWAYAM Plus was set up to connect universities, industry and learners through flexible online courses. With this partnership, both sides are looking to expand the reach of such programmes and make skill-based learning more mainstream.

The rollout is expected to reach a large number of learners across the country in the coming months.
