Application Deadline Extended For OBC Tech Training

The state government of Uttar Pradesh has made a major move to empower unemployed youth from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) by easing the timeframe for applying for its ambitious computer training program. The ‘O’ Level and CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) Training Scheme for developing technical skills among OBC contestants is now open for application until July 21, 2025.

Narendra Kashyap, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Backward Class Welfare and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Uttar Pradesh Government, announced the same in a statement released at Lucknow on July 11, 2025. He focused on the government’s priority of providing opportunities to the state’s OBC youth through skill development. The scheme, run under the Department of Backward Class Welfare, is aimed at delivering quality technical training and empowering youths to be self-dependent in a world that is fast digitalizing.

The Minister also added that the deadline of first-time application, meant to close on July 14, has been extended for a week. The extension provides deserving youths with more time to take advantage of the scheme. We do not wish to let any meritorious candidate behind due to information or shortage of time. I urge all merit OBC youth of the state to submit applications before the new deadline of July 21 and utilize this opportunity to enhance their technical skills,” Minister Kashyap said.

This scheme of offering computer training supported by the government finds special note in the backdrop of increasing demands for digital literacy in the various sectors. Besides increasing employability, the scheme also endows the candidates with skills to become self-employed and freelancers, predominantly in rural and semi-urban regions where IT sector employment is yet to be seen.

Dr. Vandana Verma, Director Backward Class Welfare Department, also shared important information regarding the application process and eligibility. According to the guidelines, the scheme is for unemployed male and female candidates who are pass-outs in Class 12 and also belong to the Other Backward Classes of Uttar Pradesh. The candidates should apply on or before July 21 at https://obccomputertraining.upsdc.gov.in.

After the candidates have finished their online application, they will need to ensure that a signed original hard copy of the application form and supporting documents are fixed to be sent to the relevant district Backward Class Welfare Officer’s office by 5 PM on the same day. This is a requirement for finishing the application process and shall be followed by document verification and screening.

The process of selection includes rigorous document verification and eligibility checking, which shall be done by July 31, 2025. Training shall be conducted in institutes approved by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), a autonomous scientific society of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The institutes possess strong and standard computer education curriculum.

The shortlisted candidates will be enrolled at the prescribed NIELIT-accredited training centers from August 1 to August 5, 2025. With this, the registration of candidates also with NIELIT will be done. Notably, waiting list candidates also will be given an opportunity to join during this time, as per seat availability and document verification.

The training session begins on August 6, 2025. It will be on main topics of digital literacy, basic programming, software applications, and basic computer operations, which are more significant in the employment market these days.

Uttar Pradesh government’s latest program is a part of its vision to improve the socio-economic position of the OBC society through better education and skill development.
