CBSE Explores Feasibility of Open Book Exams for Classes 9-12

Share

In the midst of discussions on implementing Open Book Examinations (OBE) for students in classes 9-12, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified its intention to conduct a thorough study in affiliated schools. The study will assess the feasibility of introducing OBE within the Indian educational framework, aligning with recommendations from the National Curriculum Framework for Secondary Education (NCF-SE). The Board plans to initially experiment with OBE and subsequently evaluate its viability in the Indian context.

Contrary to media reports, the CBSE has denied immediate plans to introduce OBE in selected schools as part of a pilot run for specific subjects and grade levels. Instead, the Board is currently focused on initiating a comprehensive study to determine the feasibility of this educational initiative.
