GGSIPU to Train Delhi Govt Officials in AI under NITI Aayog Mission

In a significant step towards strengthening technology-driven governance, officials from various departments of the Delhi Government are set to enhance their capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications to improve efficiency, responsiveness and public service delivery.
The two-day Capacity Building Programme on “Promoting AI in Governance” being organised by the Planning Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, in collaboration with NITI Aayog and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) acting as the Lead Knowledge Institution was inaugurated today at the India International Centre.
This initiative is aligned with the vision of Viksit Delhi @2047 and over two dozen officials from different departments of Delhi Government are participating in the programme.
Addressing the inaugural session, Shri Azimul Haque, Secretary, Planning Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, underlined the transformative potential of AI in governance. He stated that AI can significantly enhance the accessibility and efficiency of government services and enable quicker responses to citizen queries.
Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor, GGSIPU, highlighted the need for inclusive and responsible use of AI. He emphasised that AI must be accessible, ethical and citizen-centric to truly support the vision of a developed India. He also noted that AI-driven tools are already strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms across government departments.
Sharing district-level innovations, Shri Shailendra Singh Parihar, District Magistrate, Shahdara District, pointed out the practical applications of AI in governance and observed that AI-based solutions can significantly reduce the need for citizens to physically visit government offices for routine issues.
The programme features expert sessions by faculty members from GGSIPU and AI practitioners from across the country, focusing on real-world applications of AI in public administration, service delivery and policy implementation.
