GGSIPU’s Dr. Satyabrata Mohapatra Awarded Prestigious MRSI Medal 2024

Dr. Satyabrata Mohapatra, Associate Professor of Nanoscience and Technology atUniversity School of Basic and Applied Sciences of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, is conferred with the highly prestigious “MRSI Medal for 2024” by the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of Materials Science and Engineering.

The MRSI Medal 2024 was awarded by Prof. Krupanidhi, the President of MRSI, during International Union of Materials Research Societies – International Conference in Asia (IUMRS-ICA) 2024 and 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of MRSI held in Devi Ahilya Viswavidyalaya, Indore on 4th December 2024.

In a press statement, GGSIP University said that it is a matter of great pride for the University, New Delhi that Dr. Satyabrata Mohapatra is conferred with this highly prestigious “MRSI Medal for 2024” by the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI). The Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) came into existence in February 1989, MRSI is a founding Adhering Body of the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS) and participates in the international arena of materials research.

Dr. Satyabrata Mohapatra obtained his Ph.D. from Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, India. After a postdoc from IUAC, New Delhi, Brain Korea visiting scientist from SAINT, South Korea and postdoctoral visiting fellow from CSNSM, Orsay, France he joined Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, India in 2008 where he is currently working as Associate Professor of Nanoscience & Technology in University School of Basic and Applied Sciences (USBAS) and is now leading the Multifunctional Nanomaterials Laboratory. He is an elected Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society, Member of the National Academy of Sciences, India and also a Member of the Academic Council of the University. Dr. Mohapatra has published more than 140 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, two book chapters and edited one book. He is an Editor of international journals NANO, Materials Open and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Nanotechnology (Nanocatalysis) and Frontiers in Chemistry (Nanoscience). He has been working as a reviewer for over 110 international journals of repute. His research is focused on the development of multifunctional hybrid nanostructures, 2D nanomaterials and metal oxide based hybrid nanostructures and nanocomposites and their ion beam engineering for applications in photocatalysis, catalysis, gas sensing, SERS, biosensing, antimicrobials and water purification.

The Vice Chancellor of the University Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma congratulated him for this outstanding achievement and said it will inspire others for research and foster a culture of research in the University.
