The University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) alumni community in India will convene this April for a series of leadership dialogues across Bengaluru (April 8), Mumbai (April 11), and New Delhi (April 13).
The dialogues build on the university’s longstanding presence in India through academic immersion, student mobility, and cross-cultural learning initiatives facilitated by its Global Experiences ecosystem that supports students as they study abroad. Over the years, India has served as both a key destination and partner geographically, with students engaging in field-based learning, cultural exchange, and interdisciplinary study.
“We welcome many students to our campus from India, and they vital members of our campus community,” said Allyson Delnore, interim co-director of the University Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. “We are excited to continue our relationship with our India-based alumni through this valuable collaborative event.”
Jason Kane, a 2000 Pitt graduate and the Director of Regional Networks and International Programs for the Pitt Alumni Association noted, “Our engagement in India has been shaped by sustained academic and cultural connections. These dialogues provide an opportunity to reconnect with our alumni community while building pathways for continued exchange and collaboration.”
“India has historically been a strong partner for the University of Pittsburgh. The country has provided a wide range of opportunities for University of Pittsburgh students to learn and grow as global citizens,” said Jeff Whitehead, interim co-director of Pitt Global.
Programs such as Pitt in the Himalayas, which is delivered in collaboration with institutions like the Hanifl Centre for Outdoor Education and Environmental Study in Mussoorie, reflect the university’s interdisciplinary approach bycombining environmental study, community engagement, and experiential education. These programs are complemented by structured pre-departure preparation, on-ground academic engagement, and post-experience reflection frameworks that support students across academic, cultural, and personal dimensions.
In addition, Pitt’s engagement model places emphasis on student advising, financial guidance, wellness support, and inclusive programming—ensuring that global experiences are accessible, supported, and contextually meaningful for diverse student cohorts.
The initiative reflects an ongoing effort to strengthen Pitt’s global alumni network while reinforcing its academic and cultural ties with India.
