CBSE Postpones Class X, XII Exams Scheduled for March 3, 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the holdback of select CBSE Class X test 2026 and CBSE Class XII test 2026 papers that were previously listed to be held on March 3, 2026. The decision, communicated through an indirect sanction, comes as part of executive adaptations and doesn’t affect the overall CBSE board test schedule for 2026. The board has clarified that only examinations planned for the said date have been tallied, while all other papers will be conducted as per the original schedule.
According to the announcement, the CBSE test advertisement applies to specific subjects in both Class X and Class XII. The revised dates have been precisely distributed to ensure minimum dislocation to scholars’ medication and academic planning. For Class X scholars, the examinations in subjects similar to Limboo, Lepcha, and Carnatic Music (oral), which were previously slated for March 3, 2026, will now be conducted on March 11, 2026. These subjects, though taken by a fairly lower number of scholars, are an important part of the board’s commitment to verbal and artistic diversity.
CBSE clarified that the revised date was chosen to ensure acceptable distance between papers and to avoid imbrication with other listed examinations. Scholars appearing for these subjects will now have fresh time to revise, which may prove salutary in managing test stress and medication.
Legal Studies test remitted for Class XII
For Class XII campaigners, the Legal Studies examination has seen a more significant shift. Firstly listed for March 3, 2026, the paper will now be conducted on April 10, 2026. This change effectively defers the test by further than a month, making it the only Class XII subject impacted by the holdback.
The board noted that the revised date was named to ensure proper collaboration with other elderly secondary examinations and evaluation processes. Scholars appearing for legal studies have been advised to acclimate their medication plans accordingly and remain attentive to further updates issued by the board.

In its sanctioned communication, CBSE stated that the examinations for both Class X and Class XII subjects listed on March 3, 2026, have been tallied solely due to executive reasons. The indirect reaffirmation was that the revised dates would be March 11, 2026, for the affected Class X subjects and April 10, 2026, for the Class XII Legal Studies paper.
