IPU to Hold Special Test for 3 Programs

One of Delhi’s top state universities, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), has declared that it will administer a Special Entrance Test (SET) for admittance to three of its primary academic programs. The move is a big comfort for students unable to take the Common Entrance Test (CET), which the institution once administered, or the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which the National Testing Agency founded. The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC, Code 126), the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed., Code 122), and the B.Ed. Special Education (Code 159) are the programs covered by this new law.
The institution says that the change was motivated by a need to fill unoccupied spots left open notwithstanding the completion of the CET and CUET admissions procedures. The SET is expected to guarantee that qualified pupils who were prevented from sitting earlier examinations for many reasons would still have opportunity to register for these career-focused and professional courses.
Soon, the university will open the application process for the Special Entrance Test and plans to post thorough directions for prospective candidates. Crucially, students who did not sit either the CET or CUET for these classes may take this exam. In essence, the eligibility criteria are open enough to encompass individuals who might have missed earlier admission deadlines yet still want to attend the university.
The counseling process will start once the SET has been finished. Unlike the previous admission rounds, the counseling will be done face to face. According to university officials, the merit earned in the SET will define the placement of seats. Unlike the CET and CUET admissions process, the counseling for SET admissions will not have separate categories for Delhi pupils and non-Delhi students. Among all the seats on offer will be unreserved ones. This should create a level playing field for all candidates independent of their residency status.
Emphasizing the justification for this project and the university’s commitment to addressing the problems confronting its students, the vice chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma. He said a lot of college applicants applied for entrance consideration even if he did not go to the earlier admissions exams. He said that many of them had genuine reasons for submitting their applications late. Verma claims that the university tried to assist these kids by giving a unique entrance exam. He went on, the decision fit the general aim of the institution to provide excellent higher education more accessible and to ensure that deserving pupils are not denied chances because of bureaucratic hurdles.
Among the most often taken courses at GGSIPU are the three programs under the SET. By emphasizing instruction, classroom management, and educational standards, the B.Ed. program aims to prepare students for teaching jobs. The B.Ed. in Special Education satisfies the rising demand for qualified teachers able to support unique needs kids and create inclusive learning environments. Meanwhile, the BAJMC program still attracts students who are enthusiastic about working in journalism, the media, and mass communication—a profession that has experienced exponential growth along with digital media.
For details on the application process, test schedule, and counseling dates, students who want to apply for the Special Entrance Exam should consult the official university sites at www.ipu.ac.in and www.ipu.admissions.nic.in.
GGSIPU is a popular option since it offers possible candidates another chance to be accepted even if otherwise they would have had to wait an entire academic year. Along this alternative route, not only were student worries calmed but also the classrooms of the university were guaranteed to be completely occupied, therefore enabling the effective utilization of academic resources.
Parents and students can get more information from the university’s Public Relations Office. Call Nalini Ranjan, the Public Relations Officer, if you have any queries regarding the SET admissions process.
Reaffirming its status as a student-friendly institution that strikes a balance between academic achievement and inclusivity and responsiveness, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University started this effort. Applications are anticipated to flood in over the next few weeks as students get ready for the unusual exam in the hopes of attending one of Delhi’s most elite schools.
