The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Chennai, has officially released the schedule for the Tamil Nadu public examinations for the academic year 2025-2026. The schedule covers the Class XII Advanced Secondary (HSE 2), Class X SSLC, and Class XI arrear examinations. According to the advertisement, the public examinations will commence in March 2026, with over eight lakh Class XII scholars and nearly 8.7 lakh Class X scholars set to appear from thousands of seminaries across the state. As per the released schedule, the Class XII or Advanced Secondary Second Year (2) public examinations will begin on March 2, 2026, and conclude on March 26, 2026. The examinations will be held across 3,317 centres in Tamil Nadu. The first paper, listed for March 2, will cover Tamil and other language subjects under Part I. This will be followed by the English examination under Part II on March 5. The Part III subject examinations will commence with Chemistry, Accountancy, and Geography on March 9.
On March 13, scholars will appear for drugs, economics, and employability chops. Later, on March 17, subjects similar to mathematics, zoology, commerce, microbiology, nutrition and dietetics, textile and dress designing, food service management, agricultural science, nursing (general), biology, botany, and history will be conducted. The coming set of Part III examinations will take place on March 23, including Business Mathematics and Statistics, Basic Electronics Engineering, Basic Civil Engineering, Basic Automobile Engineering, Basic Mechanical Engineering, Textile Technology, Office Management and Secretaryship, Communicative English, Ethics and Indian Culture, Computer Science, and Computer Operations. The final examination for Class XII will be held on March 26, covering biochemistry, advanced language (Tamil), home science, political science, statistics, nursing (vocational), and basic electrical engineering.
The DGE has also released the schedule for the Tamil Nadu SSLC (Class X) public examinations. These will begin on March 11, 2026, and continue until April 6, 2026. The first test on March 11 will be for Tamil or other language subjects under Part I. English, which falls under Part II, will be conducted on March 16. The mathematics test, listed under Part III, will take place on March 25, followed by the science paper on March 30. The Social Science examination will be held on April 2, and the final paper, the Optional Language subject under Part IV, will conclude the test session on April 6.
The Class X examinations will be conducted across 4,113 centres, accommodating nearly 8.7 lakh scholars from 12,485 schools. The DGE has also handed out details for Class XI arrears and supplementary examinations. The Class XI supplementary (arrear) examinations are listed from March 3 to March 27, 2026. Along with written examinations, the board has released the schedule for practical examinations. The Class XII practical examinations will be conducted between February 9 and February 14, while the Class XI arrear practical examinations will be held from February 16 to February 21. For Class X, the practical examinations are set to take place between February 23 and February 28. The timing for all public examinations will be from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Scholars will be allowed to read the question paper from 10 a.m. to 10:10 a.m., after which they will have five minutes, from 10:10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., to corroborate their details. Writing time will begin instantly at 10:15 am.
The Directorate emphasised the significance of clinging to these timings and has prompted seminaries to ensure that scholars arrive well in advance to avoid any delays. Conditional result dates have also been blazoned. The results for Class XII are anticipated to be declared on May 8, 2026, while the results for Class XI and Class X are likely to be released on May 20, 2026. These dates may be subject to minor adaptations depending on executive processing and evaluation timelines.
