What has emerged to be a significant update for the fresh batch of students, Delhi University announced on Wednesday that the institution is going to increase the fees for all first-year students who take admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses, including foreign nationals, from the academic session of 2024-2025. The revised fee structure, to come into effect from August, received the nod from Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh in June.

This decision has come as the university tries to control the rising costs related to the maintenance and up-gradation of its educational infrastructure .This is a big change because, in recent years, the university had not increased its fees despite growing inflationary pressure and increasing operational cost.
According to Vice-Chancellor Singh, the hike in fees was an absolute necessity for the sustenance of high-quality education and related services that the university offers. He said that all additional revenue accruing from increased fees would be reinvested in the betterment of campus facilities, enhancement of technology, and up-gradation of academic resources for the benefit of the student community.
