IIT Guwahati’s Convocation Celebrating a Legacy of Academic Excellence

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is going to host its 26th convocation on July 14, 2024.This year, the graduating class will have a total of 2,145 degrees awarded. Among them, there will be 932 undergraduate degrees, 938 postgraduate degrees, and 275 PhD degrees. Of these, 468 will be female students.
Milestones and Achievements Since the very first convocation in 1999, IIT Guwahati has fashioned some really important milestones. In the past 25 years, more than 22,600 students have been conferred degrees at the institute. This epitomizes the institute’s commitment to academic excellence and state-of-the-art research. Awards and Recognitions among the many prestigious awards to be conferred in this 26th Convocation function include four gold medals. The President’s Gold Medal, along with the Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma gold medal, is instituted, and the Governor of Assam gold medal is instituted both for undergraduate and postgraduate categories.
Also, 16 silver medals would be awarded to toppers in BTech, BDes, MA, MSc, and MBA. Addition of 14 best PhD thesis awards and 14 best master’s thesis awards.Chief Guest: Dr. Sridhar Vembu.The chief guest of the 26th Convocation Programme will be Dr. Sridhar Vembu, Founder and CEO, Zoho Corporation. He is an award winner of the Padma Shri, and his presence increases the importance of the occasion.In a nutshell, the 26th Convocation of IIT Guwahati will become a celebration of academic excellence, coupled with the achievements made by its graduating class. The commitment to quality education and leading-edge research is palpable from the kind of milestones it has covered in the past 25 years. The event will be further graced with the presence of Dr. Sridhar Vembu as chief guest and conferment of prestigious awards.
