Share

The Faculty of Commerce at Allahabad University (AU) has introduced a unique five-year integrated BBA-MBA program starting from this academic session. In this course, students will have the opportunity to delve into the principles of management as espoused by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, and Upanishads, as well as those put forth by Chanakya. Additionally, for the very first time, students will have the chance to study the astute managerial decisions made by prominent industrialists such as JRD Tata, Azim Premji, Dhirubhai Ambani, Narayan Murthy, Sunil Mittal, and Birla.

Moreover, students will also receive instruction in Ashtanga Yoga, which will equip them with the skills to maintain composure in challenging situations. The department has launched the program with an initial cohort of 26 students, spanning ten semesters, each worth 220 credits. The course offers a flexible multiple entry and exit system, allowing students to receive different certifications based on their completion progress. For instance, those who opt to leave the program after the first year will receive a one-year certificate, while those exiting after the second year will earn a diploma. The third year completion will lead to a BBA degree, and the fifth year will culminate in an MBA degree.

Shefali Nandan, the course coordinator, highlighted that the program will encompass the study of Indian management thought and practices, integrating traditional subject matter with spiritual, cultural, and human values, Ashtanga Yoga, holistic life perspectives, meditation techniques, and stress management. Shefali also noted that the curriculum places a significant emphasis on artificial intelligence and startup management.
