The application window for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026 will shut on April 13, giving students a last chance to apply for one of the country’s key science entrance exams.
The test is the main gateway to the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, known for their focus on research-led undergraduate education. Admissions through IAT cover BS-MS dual degree programmes and four-year BS courses across campuses in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.
This year, the scope of IAT has widened. Scores will also be considered for select undergraduate programmes at institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur. The move is expected to give students more options through a single test.
Programmes on offer include the five-year BS-MS courses along with newer options such as computational and data sciences, geology, environmental science, and select B.Tech tracks. These courses aim to blend core science with emerging fields.
The exam will be held on June 7 in computer-based mode. It will have 60 multiple-choice questions across biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics, with a total duration of three hours.
Students can make corrections to their forms between April 16 and 18. Admit cards are scheduled to be released on May 24.
Applications are open on the official admissions portal. Candidates have been advised to fill in details carefully, as some fields cannot be edited after submission.
