University Information Resource Centre (UIRC), East campus of IP University organised a two – day book exhibition in which more than 12,000 books of 28 national & international publishers exhibited.

According to Chairperson of UIRC Prof. Meenu Kapoor, the displayed books were from Architecture, Industrial Design, interaction Design, Computer Science, Programming,Database System, Artificial Intelligence, Automation & Robotics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Design & Decoration, English, etc. The initiative was undertaken as an endeavour to enrich the existing collection of books in the library, informed Prof. Kapoor.

The Vice Chancellor of the University Padma Shri Prof.(Dr.) Mahesh Verma inaugurated the exhibition and praised the publishers for participation. “The initiative will definitely promote & reinforce the habit of book reading among the students and academic community,” said the Vice Chancellor.

The Registrar of the University Dr. Kamal Pathak in his address on the occasion highlighted on the need to promote a culture of reading among the students so as to strengthen the prospect of life – long learning. He deliberated on the importance of book reading for an indivisual’s professional as well as personal growth. He further stressed on the need to balance the trends of reading online to that of reading on paper for expressing learning through different platforms.

He also assured all support to UIRC for its envisioned digitalization of library resources as well as facilitating remote access of the e – resources for all online learners.

The exhibition was well attended by the faculty, officers, non – teaching staff, research scholars and the students of the University in large numbers.
