Indian Institute of Technology Ropar kicked off its two-day E-Summit 2026 on campus, bringing together students, startups, investors and industry leaders for conversations around building and scaling new ideas.
The annual summit, organised by the institute’s E-Cell along with the Technology Business Incubator Foundation, is being held on April 11 and 12 under the theme “Pioneering the Impossible”.
At the opening session, Rajeev Ahuja said the institute has emerged as a strong base for deep-tech startups, with over 450 ventures incubated so far. He pointed to a shift among young founders, who are increasingly trying to solve real problems through research-driven innovation rather than following conventional career paths.
Chief guest Rajesh Kumar Pathak spoke about the government’s support for early-stage startups, especially through funding for research and innovation. He said such platforms play a role beyond networking, often acting as starting points for future companies.
Rajeev Gautam, who attended as guest of honour, kept the message simple for students. Technical knowledge matters, he said, but attitude, discipline and the ability to work with others often decide how far one goes in the industry.
The first day saw a packed schedule. A startup expo, book fair and internship fair ran through the day, giving students a chance to interact with companies and explore opportunities. Events like Pitch 120 and a hackathon brought student teams to the stage, where ideas were tested and refined.
The summit continues on Sunday with more sessions, competitions and interactions, as the institute looks to build a stronger bridge between campus ideas and the startup ecosystem.
