Priya Agarwal Hebbar, a well-known figure in India’s mining and metals sector, recently presented the India growth story at the Bank of America Global Metals, Mining, and Steel Conference. The platform brings together industry stalwarts, plays a pivotal role in shaping the narrative for the global mining sector.

In her keynote, Hebbar highlighted the role the mining and metals sector plays in the context of global sustainability goals. She further highlighted the mineral intensity required to meet these targets; she cited a report by the World Bank which estimates the need for over USD 1.7 trillion in global mining investment to facilitate the energy transition.

Hebbar in her tweet further mentions, India, with its abundant mineral reserves, emerges as a promising destination for attracting this investment. Despite being a mineral-rich nation, India has only explored less than 20% of its total reserves. Next Hebbar emphasized that India stands at the forefront of a transformative era in mining, spearheading what she termed as “Mining 4.0 revolution.” She stated, India with the third-largest startup ecosystem globally, serves as an opportunity ground for green technologies.

Hebbar envisions India in becoming the world’s leading and most sustainable producer of critical minerals; she believes that this dream is well within reach.
