Study Group CEO notes surge in Indian students pursuing US higher education

Study Group, an international education specialist, recently concluded a successful media engagement in Delhi. The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ian Crichton, visited Delhi focusing on Study Group’s commitment to providing global education opportunities for talented Indian students seeking degrees with strong graduate employment prospects.

Mr. Crichton opened the session with the exciting announcement that Study Group is now accepting international student applications for California State University San Marcos, Towson University, and University of Nebraska at Omaha following its expansion in the USA through these new university partnerships.

The organisation, which supports international students into higher education with more than 50 university partners around the globe, now works with 11 American institutions, underscoring its commitment to broadening access for Indian students to the global education journeys that are right for them.

The CEO discussed the growing popularity of the USA as a first-choice study destination for Indian students, outlining a near doubling (+93%) of Indian students receiving offers to study in America with Study Group’s support in 2023 compared to 2022. This builds on an increase of 149% from the previous year.

With a growing roster of partners and strong demand from Indians for American degrees in subjects such as Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, Business Management and Social Science, the CEO expects further growth of nearly 50% this year.

Chief Executive of Study Group Ian Crichton said: “We have a strong record of supporting Indian students to achieve their higher education goals in America, a highly-respected global study destination and country offering tremendous opportunities to international students. It is a privilege to respond to an increasing Indian student demand for an American study experience, and of course for the excellent career opportunities it offers, with the addition of our new university partners.

“The benefits of international education have never been more important for students seeking the skills and confidence to succeed in an increasingly globalised world — global citizens who can thrive and lead will be crucial to the success of any country and ready to add real value in their careers and to society.”

With Study Group’s specialist support, Indian student Prachiben Patel set her sights on the USA University. “Once I finished my high school, I was very attracted towards technology,” said Prachiben. “I chose the USA for my further studies because it is famous for technology. I think that I am getting the best opportunities by studying here.”

Having worked for three years as a developer Sreelekha Mukkamalla travelled from India to the USA for a master’s in computer science. Sreelekha said: “Technology is continuously growing… and I wanted to add a little bit more to my skills so that I grow professionally. I felt that studying in the USA is better compared to other countries because of the technological advancements in the computer science field. Right now I’m concentrating in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with a side in the Internet of Things. I think that’s the future and that’s where I want my career to go.”

To close the meeting, Mr. Crichton welcomed the fact that universities in Asia and the global South are increasingly recognised as institutions of high academic standing that attract students from overseas. He shared Study Group’s vision for the future and commitment to further support for Indian students, noting that Study Group is in active discussions with a diverse range of universities and governments across the globe. Study Group expressed its gratitude to the attending journalists for their role in disseminating valuable information on the evolving landscape and opportunities of international education.
