World Water Day is an annual event that takes place on March 22nd to raise awareness about the importance of water and the need for sustainable management of freshwater resources. It was first proposed in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro and has been observed every year since then.

The purpose of World Water Day is to promote the sustainable management of freshwater resources and to address the water-related challenges that the world faces, such as water scarcity, water pollution, and inadequate access to safe drinking water and sanitation.
