The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the results of the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2025. The candidates who appeared for the test can now view their scores and download their scorecards from the official NTA website at exams.nta.ac.in/CMAT. Candidates can access the scorecard by logging in with their application number and date of birth.
The CMAT 2025 test was held on January 25 in two sessions across 107 cities and 178 test centers. As many as 74,012 candidates had enrolled for the test, of which 63,145 candidates took the Computer Based Test (CBT), showing an attendance rate of 85.32%. The management entrance test is among the most highly sought tests in India to take admissions into MBA and PGDM courses in several AICTE-approved colleges.
As CMAT 2025 was conducted in shifts, NTA adopted the process of normalization to maintain equality in marking. The raw scores of the candidates were normalized into NTA scores or percentiles. The percentage calculation was derived from a set formula:
NTA Score for CMAT = (100 x Number of candidates who appeared in the session with a raw score of equal to or less than the candidate) ÷ (Total number of candidates who appeared in that session).
This process ensures that the scores are unbiased even with differences in difficulty levels in different shifts.
Following the exam, NTA published the provisional answer key, question paper, and candidates’ recorded responses on its website. Candidates were provided with a chance to object to any variations in the answer key from January 31 to February 2, 2025. Their objections were subsequently examined by domain experts, and upon their feedback, a final answer key was developed. The results of CMAT 2025 were determined on the basis of this modified answer key, maintaining transparency and accuracy of the marking process.
NTA clarified that if a challenge by a candidate was held to be valid, the respective answer was corrected and used uniformly to all candidates. Candidates were not personally notified about the acceptance or rejection of objections. NTA assured that the final answer key, as resolved by the experts after settling challenges, would be treated as final.
The CMAT 2025 marking scheme was simple. All the right answers were given four marks, and one mark was deducted for every wrong answer. Marks were not awarded for unattempted or “not attempted” questions. When more than one option was correct in a question, candidates answering any of the correct options were given full marks. Moreover, when a question was excluded due to some reason, full marks were given to all candidates for that question.
Due to the competitive nature of CMAT, instances of tie scores between candidates are not unusual. To break such ties, NTA followed a pre-decided rule of tie-breaking. If two or more candidates had the same score, they were ranked in the order of their date of birth, with the older candidates being preferred for ranking. If their merit marks and dates of birth were the same, they were given the same merit rank, and the subsequent rank was modified accordingly. For example, if two candidates obtained Rank 2, both were given the same rank, and Rank 3 was omitted, and the subsequent candidate was given Rank 4.
With the results now announced, the candidates can utilize their CMAT scores to apply to several business schools in the country. Several leading management institutions admit students on the basis of CMAT scores, and the candidates should look into specific college cut-offs and eligibility before applying. The result announcement is a milestone for MBA candidates, who can now proceed with the next step based on the scores and percentile secured.
The candidates are requested to download and take a printout of their CMAT 2025 scorecards for future use. The admission process of various institutes will start now, and the candidates should maintain application deadlines for their desired colleges. To get further updates, the candidates can check on the official NTA website and remain updated on counseling and admission processes.
