Galgotias University, JETRO Discuss Academic And Industry Collaboration

Galgotias University welcomed representatives from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for discussions on academic and industry collaboration and an interactive session with students on employment opportunities in Japan.
The visitors from JETRO included Yugo Yoshida, Director, JETRO Tokyo Headquarters; Akiyoshi Oya, Officer of Global Talent Acquisition Division, JETRO Tokyo; Mr. Hiroki Kawasaki, Senior Director, JETRO New Delhi; Takahiro Nakao, Deputy Director, JETRO New Delhi; and Ms. Jenica Kalra, Assistant Director, JETRO New Delhi.
The visit builds on the earlier engagement with a 200-member Japanese delegation and strengthens momentum ahead of the Galgotias University delegation’s planned visit to Japan in October 2026.
Students Explore Careers and Workplace Culture in Japan
In a room packed with students, JETRO representatives fielded questions about employment prospects, professional expectations and preparing for careers in Japan. They discussed cultural aspects of living and working in the country, highlighting the importance of Japanese language proficiency and cultural understanding alongside technical skills.
JETRO representatives noted that more than 1,400 Japanese companies currently operate in India and highlighted the growing need for skilled talent. They recognised Galgotias University’s potential to play an important role in preparing students for opportunities with Japanese businesses in both India and Japan.
This engagement comes against the backdrop of the India-Japan Action Plan for Human Resource Exchange and Cooperation, announced in 2025, which targets exchanges of more than 5 lakh people in both directions over five years, including 50,000 skilled personnel and potential talents from India to Japan.
Strategic Location, Industry Connections and Active Learning Draw Interest
JETRO representatives observed that Galgotias University has increasingly come to the attention of Japanese stakeholders owing to its strategic location, deep industry connections and active learning pedagogy. These strengths were highlighted as foundations for preparing industry-ready talent and developing closer academic and professional ties with Japan.
The University’s location along the Yamuna Expressway and proximity to an emerging industrial ecosystem further support opportunities for engagement with Japanese industry.

Discussions Identify Academic and Industry Priorities
Alongside the student session, discussions explored potential collaboration in semiconductor and VLSI education, industry-aligned training, internships and Japanese language learning.
Participants also considered opportunities for academic engagement with the University of Yamanashi, including joint research, student mobility and talent development. The discussions emphasised aligning student preparation with the requirements of Japanese companies.
October Visit to Take Collaboration Forward
The University delegation’s planned visit to Japan in October 2026 will provide an opportunity to advance these conversations, better understand company-specific requirements and explore structured partnerships with Japanese universities and industry.
Through this continuing engagement, Galgotias University aims to translate dialogue into meaningful opportunities for students and faculty while strengthening educational and professional ties between India and Japan.
