IP University is planning to introduce IITs like faculty schemes to promote start ups in the campus.
While convening the meeting with all the deans and directors of the University at Atal Incubation Centre(AIC), the Vice Chancellor of the University Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma said, it is need of the hour to introduce such faculty schemes to boost the start up ecosystem of the University.
He also urged the PhD scholars enrolled in the University to alien their research projects towards new start ups apart from fundamental research to serve the society.
Limited awareness among the students regarding funding opportunities is a key factor. It is becoming imperative for research institutes to connect with the industry, government and funding agencies to foster relevant and application-based researches, said the
Vice Chancellor.
IITs support faculty startups through various schemes, including dedicated entrepreneurship leaves, seed and incubation funding, and partnerships with external organisations.
Many IITs also have a Faculty Innovation and Research-driven Entrepreneurship (FIRE) program or similar initiatives to support the commercialization of faculty-led technologies.
The work profile of four new start ups were displayed on the occasion. A number of start ups are already under incubation in the centre.
The CEO of AIC Mr. Hemant Shrivastava informed on the occasion that in a a short span of only two years of it’s inception, the centre has recently been included in top five incubation centres of the country by the Niti Aayog.
The University has also been given the status of Lead Knowledge Institution( LKI) for promotion of start up culture in the campus, he informed.
