GGSIPU Marks National Space Day with ISRO Scientist, Showcases Chandrayaan-3

ISRO Scientist Mrs. Nivriti Priyadarshini shares insights on Chandrayaan-3 during National Space Day at GGSIPU

Several phases of ‘Journey to the Moon’ were showcased by Mrs Nivriti Priyadarshini, Scientist, ISRO to mark the National Space Day at GGSIPU. The day has its importance in the lunar landing of Chandrayaan-3 on August 23rd. The event was organized to raise space awareness and inspire students to explore and innovate in the field of space science and technology.

Responding to the questions of students, Mrs Priyadarshini said that electric propulsion could be considered as an alternative potential fuel to liquid propulsion. Regarding the failure of Chandrayaan-2, she asserted that its root cause analysis helped to overcome the lacunae and helped in rebuilding Chandrayaan-3.

Prof Anindya Datta, Dean, USBAS delivered the welcome address. Dr Kamal Pathak, Registrar, GGSIPU facilitated the session. Dr S Neeleshwar, Nodal Officer, USBAS proposed the vote of thanks.

The event was organized by the University School of Basic & Applied Sciences (USBAS). Theme of the programme was “Touching lives with touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga”. Students were given the awards in the category of painting competition and Art Integrated–activities. USBAS organized a variety of school-based activities to foster interest in space science among younger students. University level hackathon focused on innovative solutions related to space exploration.

In yet another Faculty Development Programme, Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo of Delhi University spoke on Disaster Management, specifying on the need for tree plantation.
