Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates Smart Manufacturing Centre at IIT Tirupati

In a virtual address, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, lauded the academic achievements of the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati) during its 4th and 5th convocation ceremony. Shri Pradhan congratulated the graduating students and virtually inaugurated the Centre of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Tirupati, developed in collaboration with SIEMENS and Wipro.

The newly inaugurated CoE, focusing on “Smart Manufacturing and EV Technologies,” boasts seven laboratories dedicated to smart manufacturing, EV manufacturing, smart grid, and more.

During his address, Shri Pradhan expressed confidence that the students of IIT Tirupati would evolve into wealth creators, playing a crucial role in achieving the goal of a developed India. Commending the institute’s emphasis on innovation and interdisciplinary research, he envisioned the graduates as catalysts for socio-economic change, harnessing the energy of Yuva Shakti for global well-being and humanity’s service.

Established in 2015, IIT Tirupati operates as an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and holds the status of an Institute of National Importance. Shri Pradhan noted the institute’s steady expansion, including the introduction of new academic programs and research initiatives, demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence and innovation.

The academic programs at IIT Tirupati encompass a range of engineering disciplines, research programs at the MS and PhD levels, and newer additions like the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program introduced in 2022. Shri Pradhan concluded his address by highlighting the institute’s pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of leaders and professionals essential for India’s growth and development.
