Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, today. The event showcased the resilience of cooperatives, entrepreneurial spirit, and determination of farmers, highlighting Amul’s global success as one of the strongest dairy brands.

During the celebration, the Prime Minister unveiled the Golden Jubilee Coffee Table Book and took a walkthrough of the exhibition. He congratulated everyone on the 50th anniversary of GCMMF, emphasizing the significant growth from a sapling planted by Gujarat farmers.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi praised Amul as a symbol of trust, development, public participation, and empowerment of farmers. He noted Amul’s global presence, with products exported to over 50 countries, and highlighted the achievements of 18,000 milk cooperative committees, a network of 36,000 farmers, and the processing of more than 3.5 crore liters of milk daily.

Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the crucial role of women, constituting up to 70% in the dairy sector, and emphasized their contribution to the success of the industry. He highlighted government initiatives, including Mudra Yojana and Namo Drone Didi Scheme, supporting women entrepreneurs.

The Prime Minister outlined the government’s focus on rural development, emphasizing the integration of small-scale farmers with modern technology. He discussed initiatives like the National Gokul Mission, efforts to eradicate Foot and Mouth Disease, and the recent Cabinet decision to promote indigenous livestock species.

Highlighting water conservation in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the transformative impact of Narmada water reaching drought-affected regions. He announced the implementation of a scheme to purchase cow dung for electricity generation under the Gobar Dhan Yojana.

Prime Minister Modi concluded by expressing confidence in Amul’s potential to become the world’s largest dairy company and assured government support. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Governor of Gujarat Shri Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister Shri Parshottam Rupala, and GCMMF Chairman Shri Shamal B Patel, along with over 1.25 lakh farmers.
