Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the test schedule of the Selection Post Recruitment Examination 2025 in a government notification, which is big news awaited by thousands of potential job seekers in India. As per the notification, the computer-based test (CBT) will be conducted between July 24 and August 1, 2025, to fill 2,423 vacant seats in government departments and sectors across India.

This is an annual recruitment drive organized by the SSC with the intention of choosing candidates for Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C (Non-Technical) posts in different ministries, departments, and subordinate offices that are owned by the Central Government. The examination is divided into three stages based on educational qualification: Matriculation (Class 10), Higher Secondary (Class 12), and Graduation and above. The candidates have to apply in the category in which their qualification is closest to, and the structure of the test is formulated accordingly.

For the candidates who have applied at the single qualification level alone, they will be called for taking only one exam according to their education level. Candidates who have applied under multiple educational qualification categories need to take respective exams for each level individually. The multi-level approach has the benefit of ensuring that candidates are being tested appropriately against the posts they are going to be qualifying for.

The CBT will be divided into four separate sections—General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude (simple arithmetic), and English Language (understanding of basic). There will be 25 questions in each section, with two marks for each question, totaling 100 questions for 200 marks. The exam should take 60 minutes, and there will be a penalty of 0.5 marks for each wrong response. This negative marking scheme forces the candidates to be careful while trying their hand at the paper and promotes precision over wild guessing.

Where the test is conducted in more than one shift or day because of insufficient space or any administrative cause, SSC would apply a normalisation method to make the marks equal so that assessment equity is maintained across different levels of difficulty of the question papers. Final merit lists and cut-off marks would be prepared on normalized scores, which would provide an equal opportunity to all applicants irrespective of the shift of test.

With several posts being recruited, this test provides hope to the aspirants from all over India who dream of joining the central government organizations. From administrative support services and clerical services to departmental functional activities, the Selection Post test provides a broad range of career opportunities. With the extensive coverage of posts and a systematic pattern of examination, it is an easily accessible window for the aspirants from various educational profiles and areas.

When it comes to application charges, SSC has kept it moderate for general category but has given total exemptions to candidates from reserved category and women candidates. EWS, General, and OBC category candidates are mandated to pay an application charge of Rs 100. SC, ST, and PH (People with Disabilities) category candidates and female candidates belonging to all categories are exempted from all charge. This policy is designed to introduce inclusion and increased participation from those sections of society which are currently under-represented.

The ease of payment can be made through multiple modes such as online media like debit card, credit card, net banking, and SBI e-challan in offline mode. Ease of payment options is designed so that the application process becomes convenient for the urban and rural applicants.

SSC Selection Post Examination has become popular these days as it provides growth, stability, and employment in government offices all over the country. With the clerical assistant to technical support staff and non-technical support staff posts, the examination provides an opportunity to freshers as well as experienced staff to secure a job in the government sector.

As the exam dates near, the candidates should initiate or accelerate preparation accordingly, keeping in mind the extensive syllabus and exam pattern. The competition is sure to be fierce, with so many aspirants and the glamour of central government appointments. The candidates should ensure that they carry necessary documents during the time of the exam as well, such as their admit card, original photo ID proof, and adhere to all the examination guidelines released by the SSC.
