The silver jubilee year of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, is seeing the university perform superbly on the front of national and international academic rankings. Building on its impressive show of securing A++ in the NAAC ratings recently, the University made its maiden entry in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world rankings 2024.

The QS rankings have featured the university among the top 1500 institutions of the world. While typically the QS rankings have been using the indicators of academic reputation, employer reputation, and faculty-student ratio, three new indicators of sustainability, employment outcomes and international research network were added this year. Padma Shri Prof (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor of the University, noted that in a remarkable accomplishment, the University has appeared in the QS global rankings without ever having been in the QS Asia rankings.

In the 20th edition of the most prestigious rankings in the academic world, only 45 universities from India and 439 institutions from Asia were included among the top 1500 prestigious worldwide institutions, Prof Verma added. This edition features only four new entrants including I P University, he remarked.

He stated that the University has been working relentlessly to perform on education, research, and capacity building by creating international partnerships with academics and industry, which continue to play a crucial role in enhancing the university’s academic performance.

He added that this is reflected in over 5070 papers with an h-index of 73. Reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promote academic delivery, policy research, and social welfare through advancing humane education and research at the university, Prof Verma lauded the efforts of the faculty and staff in taking the university further.
