IIT Madras Launches Startups For All Initiative

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched a new action named ‘Startups for All’ aimed at making critical incubation-related information accessible and affordable for all stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The action, developed by the Centre for Research on Start-ups and Threat Backing (CREST) at IIT Madras in collaboration with YNOS, an incubated at the institute, seeks to bridge the longstanding information gap that has hindered authors, investors, and ecosystem enablers across India. The launch took place during the ‘TN Global Startup Summit’ in Chennai and was officiated by Palanivel Thiagarajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu. The event marked a significant step in promoting inclusivity and transparency within India’s fast-growing incubation ecosystem.
According to IIT Madras, the ‘Startups for All’ action is designed to democratise access to practicable data, helping a broad range of users—not just authors and investors, but also scholars, job campaigners, corporates, instructors, and service providers—to make informed opinions. The platform aims to produce a position playing field where everyone, regardless of their position, background, or fiscal coffers, can explore vindicated information about startups, funding opportunities, and industry trends. India’s incubator ecosystem, presently the third largest in the world, is anticipated to play a vital part in achieving the public vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the $5 trillion frugality thing.
The action comes at a pivotal time when startups are increasingly getting mainstream profitable motorists and touchpoints for citizens across colourful sectors. Still, one of the patient challenges facing the ecosystem has been what experts name the “information riddle”—a vision of abundant data that is, in reality, fractured and haphazard. This lack of coherent and dependable information frequently hampers the capability of entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to form sound opinions.
The sanctioned statement from IIT Madras noted that reducing this information asymmetry is critical for India to completely harness the benefits of its growing incipient frugality. By bringing together dispersed data on a single, comprehensive platform, the institute aims to make the incipiency ecosystem more effective, transparent, and accessible to all.
The ‘Startups for All’ platform presently hosts an expansive database featuring over 2.75 lakh startups, 15,000 angel investors, 5,500 venture capital enterprises, 1,400 incubators, 800 banks, and 110 government support schemes. This makes it one of the most comprehensive depositories of incipiency information in the country. The platform provides detailed biographies and logical perceptivity that can support entrepreneurs in relating to potential investors, comparing growth criteria, and understanding backing trends. Explaining the significance of the action, Prof. Thillai Rajan A, Head of CREST at IIT Madras, said that information asymmetry has long been a major hedge for authors and originators.
He noted that the ‘Startups for All’ action aims to level the playing field by furnishing equal access to critical information, thereby empowering every entrepreneur and citizen to make data-driven opinions. He added that equal access to information can help authors attract the right investors, gauge their gambles efficiently, and engage meaningfully with the ecosystem.
Rajan, who’s also a faculty member in the Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras, further emphasised that access to information shouldn’t be an honour confined to a few. By partnering with YNOS, IIT Madras aims to ensure that aspiring entrepreneurs from across the country, including those from lower municipalities and lesser-known institutions, can explore the incubation ecosystem with clarity, confidence, and affordability.
The platform offers a range of useful features for druggies, including investor recommendations for startups seeking backing, relative analytics for assessing growth and backing performance, and downloadable investor reports. It also provides tools that enable entrepreneurs to compose substantiated outreach dispatches to investors and incubators. These features are particularly applicable for early-stage startups, which frequently face resource constraints and limited access to investor networks. Chancing accurate data about investor preferences, investments, and engagement models has traditionally been a major challenge for new authors, and this action directly addresses that gap.
One of the crucial advantages of ‘Startups for All’ is its cost-effective model. Registered druggies are granted complimentary credits to explore biographies of startups, investors, adventure capital enterprises, incubators, banks, and government schemes. Once these credits are used, druggies can continue penetrating the platform through a ‘pay-as-you-go’ micro-payment system. This eliminates the need for heavy subscription freights, making the platform financially accessible to a wider followership. By offering free original access and an affordable payment structure later, IIT Madras aims to remove the fiscal walls that prevent numerous implicit entrepreneurs and experimenters from using critical request information. This approach also encourages inclusivity by enabling scholars, faculty members, originators, and first-time entrepreneurs to engage with vindicated, high-quality data.
Through ‘Startups for All’, IIT Madras and YNOS are situating India’s incubation ecosystem for lesser translucency and inclusivity. By addressing the long-standing issue of fractured information and icing broad-grounded access to dependable data, the action is anticipated to accelerate invention, collaboration, and sustainable growth across the country’s entrepreneurial geography.
