IP University organises 1st NHRC Moot Court Competition

University School of Law & Legal Sudies(USLLS),IP University has organised 1st NHRC Moot Court Competition at Dwarka campus.

According to Dean – USLLS, Prof. Queeny Pradhan, this three – day mega legal – learning event was started yesterday evening in which around forty teams of renowned law institutes of the country are  actively participating. She said on the occasion that mooting is learning with practice, embracing spirit of justice.

Speaking as a key note speaker on the inaugural function Prof. B. T. Kaul, former Director – Delhi Judicial Academy said, lawyer has to take challenge of pleading any matter under the sun. Keeping in view, they have to prepare to respond those challenges successfully.  Referring the American legal education system, he informed Moot Court Competition is an essential component of curriculum there. “It is good that Indian legal education system has started focusing on Moot Court Competitions to give practical exposure to court room pleading,” said Prof. Kaul. He also stressed emphasis on significance of research in legal education and extending legal help to common people.

Rajeev Jain, Member – NHRC & former Director – Intelligence Bureau said on the occasion that extensive reading, especially facts & laws, is essential to offend or defend in legal profession.

Theme of this Moot Court Competion is Human Rights’ Issues Pertaining to Refugees, Asylum Seekers & Illegal Cross – Border Migrants.
