The University School of Liberal Arts, GGSIPU has included Psychology as the fourth major discipline, other than History, Political Science and Sociology, within its 5-year BA-MA Liberal Arts Programme designed under National Education Policy (NEP). In an era of rapid social change, when mental health and well-being have emerged as important societal challenge, understanding different facets of human behavior is more important than ever. Introducing psychology within the interdisciplinary liberal arts program will empower the students with the knowledge and skills to analyze the complexities of human thought, emotions, and actions in different context. As a discipline that intersects with sociology, history, political sciences, and others, Psychology will enhance students’ ability to analyze social, political, economic and cultural issues, and develop problem-solving skills in a more compressive fashion, by equipping them with analytical tools and theoretical frameworks to understand human behavior in its totality.
