In a momentous leap for India’s space endeavors, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, hailed the nation and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for their remarkable achievement – the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s surface, particularly in the challenging terrain of the South Pole. This triumphant accomplishment solidifies India’s position as a leader in the global space race and emphasizes the vision articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “Sky is not the limit.”

Amidst a surge of excitement and national pride, Dr. Jitendra Singh proclaimed, “Hail India on Moon! Hail ISRO!” as Chandrayaan-3 made its successful landing on the lunar surface. This significant moment was celebrated not only by the scientific community but by every citizen who felt the tricolour flag flying high on the lunar soil.

Simultaneously, Dr. Singh took to social media to convey his jubilation, stating, “While others fantasize Moon, we have felt the Moon. While others stuck in flight of dreams, Chandrayaan-3 has actualized the dream.” This tweet coincided with the exact instant of the landing, symbolizing the confluence of technology and human endeavor.

During a media briefing, Dr. Jitendra Singh commended the dedicated efforts of ISRO’s leadership, including Chairman Shri S. Somanath and Mission Director Shri Mohan Kumar, along with the entire ISRO team. He emphasized the rigorous planning, tireless commitment, and unwavering passion that went into achieving this monumental feat. The successful landing in the Moon’s uncharted South Pole territory, an area untouched by previous missions, was a testament to India’s perseverance and scientific prowess.

Dr. Singh underlined that India’s emergence as a front-ranking global player in space owes much to Prime Minister Modi’s unwavering support for the country’s space scientists. By “unlocking” the potential of India’s space sector, Prime Minister Modi paved the way for the realization of the dreams envisioned by the pioneering space scientist, Vikram Sarabhai.

The Minister also detailed the scientific instruments aboard the Vikram lander. Notable tools include CHASTE (Chandra’s Surface Thermo-Physical Experiment) for thermal property measurements, RAMBHA-LP (Langmuir Probe) for surface plasma density, and ILSA (Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity) to study the lunar crust and mantle’s structure, among others. These instruments will operate over the next 14 days, collecting valuable data about the Moon’s unique characteristics.

As the lunar day dawns again after the upcoming night and extreme cold conditions, solar power generation is anticipated to resume for Vikram and Pragyan. Meanwhile, the orbiter remains resilient, poised to continue its mission, a testament to ISRO’s engineering prowess.

With Chandrayaan-3’s successful landing, India stands tall among global space players, displaying its technological competence, dedication, and vision. This remarkable achievement not only deepens our understanding of the Moon’s mysteries but also paves the way for future explorations that could reshape humanity’s relationship with the cosmos.
