In a historic moment for New Delhi, the Kathak Literary Festival, being the first-ever such festival on earth, came into being coinciding with the auspicious day of the 37th Kathak Mahotsav, 2025, at Kathak Kendra. Kathak’s first day opened up with a vibrant observance of the dance, wherein its glorious artistic heritage met an embroiled atmosphere of discussion and literary outpouring.

The Kathak Kendra organized the festival, with participation from several cultural institutions, including the Ministry of Culture, Sangeet Natak Akademi, and Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. The event was further graced by the presence of eminent personalities such as Sandhya Purecha and Raju Das.

The festival promises to go on exploring narratives surrounding Kathak, bringing scholars, dancers, and Kathak lovers together to celebrate all artistic and literary aspects of this dance form.
