1. Institute Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships:
   One of the most prestigious scholarships at IIT Ropar is the Institute Merit-cum-Means Scholarship. The scholarship is open only to undergraduate students in engineering and technology and is intended for students with academic merit and in need. Under the MCM, the number of scholarships available is about 25% of the students, and hence is substantially large for many.

The current sanction value of the Merit-cum-Means scholarship is Rs. 1000 per month for general category students. In addition, tuition fees are waived off to the scholarship holders. This, coupled with the scholarship amount, drastically brings down the economic load. This scholarship will be of great help to the 4-year B.Tech. students since they become eligible to avail of the MCM scholarship right from the time they join the institute.

The first-year criterion of awarding the MCM scholarship is based on AIR in JEE, which ensures only meritorious students are awarded. Once admitted, this will be renewed each year if the student continues to meet the academic requirements. Such continuous support will help students focus on studies without the burden of financial constraints.
