Beep App Reaches 1,000 Students in 30-day Youth Campaign Across Pune and Mumbai

A small campaign on city streets helped a Pune startup connect with hundreds of college students last month. Beep App said it engaged more than 1,000 students through a 30-day ground campaign across Pune and Mumbai. The campaign ran through February. Instead of online ads, the team went out to places where students usually gather. Streets near college campuses, food lanes and hangout spots turned into small discovery points for the app.

Bright posters were placed on busy roads and outside colleges. The posters used Bollywood style lines that many young people quickly recognise. The messages spoke about common worries students face such as careers, skills and finding the right job. Each poster carried a QR code. Students could scan it and download the app in seconds.

One unusual part of the campaign was a chocolate themed car that moved across student areas in Pune. The vehicle had large QR codes printed on it. Students who stopped by could scan the code and install the app. The team also handed out chocolates, which made many curious passers-by stop and ask questions.

“We wanted something simple and fun,” said Saurabh Mangrulkar. “Young people connect quickly with filmy style humour. That is why we used Bollywood inspired posters. Many campaigns today happen only online, but meeting students face to face also matters.”

The team also spent time speaking directly with students in popular youth spots. In Mumbai, they visited areas such as Marine Drive. In Pune, conversations happened around Fergusson College and nearby student neighbourhoods.

Most of these chats were informal. Students spoke about confusion around careers, new skills they want to learn and the pressure of finding jobs after college. After the conversation, the team helped them scan the QR code and sign up on the app.

Some of the interactions were recorded as short videos and student reactions. These clips later appeared online, helping the campaign reach a wider audience.

The startup began in Pune in 2021 under the name EventBeep. Today the platform connects students with internships, mentors and hiring companies. The company says it now serves more than 6.5 million users, works with over 1,500 colleges and has ties with more than 7,800 recruiters across the country.

For many students who walked past the posters or the chocolate car, the campaign was a quick introduction to a platform that hopes to guide them through the early steps of their careers.
