With the support of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, along with CSIR and BRNS, scientists, researchers and educationists from more than 10 countries participated in the three-day International Conference on Innovations in Advanced Technologies for Sustainable Society in Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICATS-2026) at the Mohan Babu University (MBU) campus in Tirupati. The conference provided a platform for international scientific experts to discuss emerging developments across chemical, biological and health sciences and their applications towards building a more sustainable society.

The discussions focused on how advances in chemical and biological sciences are shaping developments across healthcare, biotechnology, environmental sustainability and related fields. Sessions examined emerging research and technologies, with discussions centred on translating scientific knowledge into practical applications and addressing societal challenges. The programme also gave students and researchers an opportunity to understand current developments in these fields and gain perspectives from experts working across different areas of scientific research. Experts from the US, Portugal, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Australia and other countries participated in the conference, facilitating cross-border knowledge exchange and scientific collaboration. Discussions covered chemical sciences, biological sciences, biotechnology and health-related research, with researchers sharing emerging findings, technologies and perspectives on pressing challenges related to health, sustainability and society.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Maheshwari, Executive Director and Trustee at Mohan Babu University, said, “We are proud to have hosted ICATS-2026 at MBU. For us, the conference is a reflection of our belief that universities must create spaces where knowledge is questioned, ideas are exchanged, and new thinking can emerge. We hope this association will continue to open new avenues for academic engagement and research, while strengthening MBU’s contribution to the larger scientific community.”

International scientific contributors included Prof. Nuno C. Santos, University of Lisbon, Portugal; Prof. Cédric Delattre, Université Clermont Auvergne, France; Prof. Malarvili Selvaraja, UCSI University, Malaysia; Prof. Wei-Yu Lin and Prof. Vinoth Kumar Ponnusamy, Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan; Prof. Kwang-Sun Kim, Pusan National University, South Korea; and Mohammed Al-Nussairawi, University of Misan, Iraq, among other experts. Indian contributors included Prof. P. Gandeepan, IIT Tirupati; Dr. A. Gnanamani, CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai; Dr. B. Anandkumar, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam; and Dr. A. Rajasekar, Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore.

ICATS-2026 highlighted the importance of collaboration across scientific disciplines and the need to connect research with practical applications. The conference also supported MBU’s efforts to strengthen academic engagement and encourage research and innovation across the sciences.
