The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has declared the 2025 compartment and improvement exam dates for high school students (Class 10) and intermediate students (Class 12). The exams provide students with a vital second opportunity to better their grades or pass a subject in which they had flunked in the general board exams.
According to the new notification released by UPMSP, the improvement and compartment test will be organized on 19 July 2025. Class 10 compartment test will be held in the morning session from 8:30 am to 11:45 am, while Class 12 test will be held in the afternoon session from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Candidates who are giving either of the tests must make sure that they are arriving at their respective test centres at least 45 minutes before the commencement of the test since late entry is not permitted.
The official date sheet has been put up on UPMSP’s website — upmsp.edu.in — and students can view and download it from there to be used as a reference document in the future. The board has also directed the principals of schools to download and disburse the admit cards of the compartment exams to concerned students after verifying them properly. This move is being made to prevent confusion at the last moment and ensure all students are in possession of their identity documents duly before the exams.
Strict surveillance is being ensured by the board for maintaining decorum and for ethical conduct during conducting the examination process. Entry and exit of the examination centers will be tightly managed by the center superintendents to avoid crowding and to keep disturbance at bay. Entry into an attempt to render the process more transparent as well as to keep any adverse activity under watch, the board has insisted on all examination rooms being provided with operational CCTV cameras. They should have voice recorders and routers installed to provide live monitoring during the duration of the exam.
Apart from this, the carrying of mobile phones, smartwatches, or any other digital device within the exam centers has been strictly banned. Any student caught in his or her possession will be liable to disciplinary action as per examination conduct rules of UPMSP. These regulations are put forth to maintain the honesty of the exams and to prevent any kind of malpractice.
The chance to attempt these compartment and improvement exams is for candidates who have not passed one of the subjects or want to improve on one of the subjects. One subject, according to the rule, can be attempted when appearing for the compartment or improvement exam. The window for registering for these tests opened on May 19 and closed on June 10, 2025, providing sufficient time for the students to register. Students who have failed one subject in Humanities, Science, Commerce, Agriculture (Part-1 and Part-2), or Vocational Trade can appear for the compartmental exam of the specific subject.
Apart from theory exams, practical or project-based internal assessment exams will also be held for students who want to score better or pass in subjects having practical components. The board has suggested that it is strictly necessary that students pass both the theory and practice/project portions of such subjects. If a student passes one portion but fails in the other, he/she will have to wait for both parts in the upcoming cycle.
This step by UPMSP gives a big chance to the students to improve their academic marks and continue their studies without losing an entire academic year. It also shows the regard for the well-being of the students by the board, giving them an equal chance to improve their performance.
Students are asked to study hard and utilize this second chance to the best of their ability. They must stay updated from the official UPMSP website and in constant touch with their schools for any other announcements or notices concerning the compartment and improvement exams.
