The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) announced the results of the Class X (Secondary School Certificate or SSC) exams for the academic year 2024-25 on May 8, 2025. With a significant improvement in performance and a better success rate than in earlier years, this year’s results indicate a good academic trend in the state. Among the highlights, girl students have again surpassed boys, following a consistent trend seen over the past few years.
The overall percentage pass was an impressive 82.56%, indicating a healthy academic performance. Among the 7,06,370 students enrolled for Class 10 examinations, 6,99,598 students sat for the examination. Of them, around 5,77,556 students passed, strengthening the board’s resolve to promote education quality and sustain student performance. The figures point towards the fact that the majority of the appearing students cleared the examination.
Girls have shown the way this year, achieving a pass percentage of 86.69%, which is much better than the 79.12% pass percentage of the boys. This steady excellence in studies by girls is a reflection of growing awareness and support for girls’ education in the state. Such a gender-based difference in performance, though indicating the strength of girls in academics, also demands special strategies for the improvement and empowerment of boys students in the next couple of years.
The outcome also highlights school-level performance. 1,389 schools of the state have recorded 100% pass outcomes. These comprise 137 government schools, 196 granted (aided) institutions, and a staggering 1,056 private schools. This indicates the efforts made by schools of all categories—government, aided, and private—to produce good academic outcomes and implement efficient teaching-learning processes.
The board also presented the performance of repeat applicants—candidates who reappeared for the exam after failing in earlier years. There were 82,313 such repeat students enrolled for the SSC exam this year, out of whom 78,613 appeared. Of them, 25,357 applicants succeeded in the exam with a pass percentage of 32.26%. Although lower than the normal candidates, this performance gives a sense of hope and chance for further support and development for those who have previously struggled.
Gujarat Board sticks to its old grading system of SSC results. The students are graded differently in accordance with the marks: A1 for marks 81-90, A2 for marks 71-80, B1 for marks 61-70, B2 for marks 51-60, C1 for marks 41-50, C2 for marks 33-40, D for marks 21-32, and E1/E2 for marks lesser than 20. This makes the grading of the students relatively more comprehensive and stress-free based on raw marks.
For those candidates who could not pass one or more subjects, the Gujarat Board will also give a second chance through supplementary examinations. The supplementary exams are conducted to enable students to finish their secondary school education without wasting an academic year. The exam dates for these tests will be released shortly on the official GSHSEB website, and students should keep checking the website regularly.
In an effort to provide easy access and openness in the checking of results, the board has provided the Class 10 results online. The students can log in on the official website of the Gujarat Board, www.gseb.org, where they are asked to input their seat number in order to view their results. Once the result appears, the students can download and print a copy for personal reference and future academic or admission.
With an increasing pass percentage, more schools registering perfect results, and the sustained academic excellence exhibited by girls, the 2025 SSC results are a success year for the Gujarat education sector. While the students rejoice at their success, the board and teachers look to carry on with their efforts to create a helpful, inclusive, and excellence-based academic culture throughout the state.
