TN Class XII Results 2025: Girls Outshine Boys

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, announced the Class XII Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam results for the year 2025 on May 8. The results were formally announced during a press meet conducted at 9 AM under the chairmanship of Tamil Nadu’s School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi. Candidates who wrote the exams can now access their marks online from the official websites, including tnresults.nic.in.
In excess of 8 lakh students this year wrote the HSC examinations conducted between March 3 and March 25, state-wide. The aggregate pass percentage attained during the period is a creditable 95.03%, better than past results and reinforcing the state’s typical academic achievement trend. Girls proved to be standout performers against their male counterparts this time too as far as the pass percentage reports are concerned. The pass ratio for girls this time was clocked at 96.70%, while that of boys registered at 93.16%.
A total of 7,513 schools participated in the HSC examination process this year. Out of these, 2,638 schools achieved a perfect 100% pass rate, showcasing the commitment and dedication of both students and educators. Further highlighting academic excellence, 26,887 students secured full marks in at least one subject. Computer Science saw the highest number of centum scorers, with 9,536 students achieving perfect scores. In Tamil, 135 students have been able to secure full marks, showing excellent performance even in language papers.
The performance of physically challenged students has also been excellent this year. Among 8,019 physically challenged candidates who took the exams, 7,466 have been able to qualify successfully, which means a pass percentage of more than 93%. This feat speaks volumes about the inclusive nature of the education system of the state and the determination of these students.
Zone-wise, Ariyalur stood first with a pass percentage of 98.82%, followed by Erode at 97.98%, Thirupur at 97.53%, Coimbatore at 97.48%, Kanyakumari at 97.01%, and Sivagangai at 96.71%. The districts have long been top performers in board examinations due to both the quality of education and the support from the community.
The results have been made available to students through the official portals of the DGE. Students can download provisional marksheets online, which will be treated as valid for college admission until the official certificates are available. The official documents will subsequently be made available through DigiLocker and other authorized government platforms.
For students who were not able to clear or were not able to appear for the regular board exams, the Tamil Nadu Board has given a second opportunity in the form of supplementary exams. The supplementary exam is likely to begin from May 25, and the final schedule will be announced on May 9. This facility provides students with a chance to increase their marks and resume their studies without any major delay.
The declaration of results is an important milestone for parents, students, and teachers, marking the end of months of toil and hard work. It also heralds a new future for lakhs of students who will now proceed with higher education, professional courses, or vocational training depending on their results.
