Invest in Women to Accelerate India’s Growth: Experts

In commemoration of Women’s Day, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) hosted a vibrant celebration, featuring a National Conference on Gender Perspectives organized under the banner of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ to mark the ‘Amrit Kaal’. The event, spearheaded by the University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS) in collaboration with Viksit Bharat Cell, addressed crucial topics such as women’s representation in Parliament, the impact of reservation policies, and challenges faced in local councils.

Distinguished Speakers and Insights:

The Chief Guest, Ms. Madhu Krishna Garg, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), delivered a compelling message, urging the audience to “Invest in women to accelerate the growth of India.” She emphasized the importance of self-investment, continual pursuit of improvement, and aligning personal passions with one’s endeavors. According to Ms. Garg, achieving self-realization and ensuring economic sustainability are key factors for the development of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Padmashri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, extended his best wishes and encouraged students and women to celebrate their identity. Drawing inspiration from the life of Ms. Muthavya Vanitha, the project director of India’s Chandrayan-2 mission, Prof. Verma highlighted the dedication and quiet power that women bring to diverse fields.

Prof. A P Singh of USLLS underscored the significance of women’s influence both at home and in various disciplines. Prof. (Dr.) Anuj Kumar Vaksha, Director of Viksit Bharat Cell, welcomed the delegates and provided an overview of the role of ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women Power). Prof. (Dr.) Shivani Goswami, the Convenor, expressed gratitude, and Prof. Neelu Mehra, a member of the Cell, was also present.

Academic Sessions:

The conference featured two parallel sessions, with over 50 papers presented by participants, including faculty members, research scholars, and students from various universities in Delhi NCR. The papers covered diverse dimensions of the conference themes, contributing valuable insights to the discourse on gender perspectives.

The event concluded on a high note, emphasizing the crucial role women play in India’s growth trajectory and the need for continued investment in their empowerment. The collective wisdom shared during the conference is expected to foster positive changes in policies and societal attitudes towards gender equality and women’s progress.
