IP Univetsity’s Smart Delhi Ideathon 2025 Aims to Solve Delhi’s Urban Challenges

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is organizing the Smart Delhi Ideathon 2025, a competition aimed at finding innovative solutions to Delhi’s various urban challenges. The online registration for the competition has begun, and students from any university or college in Delhi can participate.

The Smart Delhi Ideathon 2025 focuses on critical urban challenges, inviting young minds to think creatively and develop solutions for:

  • Reducing Traffic Congestion, devising innovative solutions to alleviate traffic congestion in Delhi, with a special focus on parking and traffic rule compliance.
  • Enhancing Women’s Safety, creating a safer Delhi for women by strengthening law and order for inclusive urban safety.
  • Improving Air Quality, crafting sustainable solutions for cleaner, healthier air in Delhi.
  • Achieving Zero Waste, focusing on waste segregation at source to achieve zero waste.
  • Maximizing Water Efficiency, making every drop count in Delhi by maximizing water efficiency.
  • Promoting Economic Growth and Innovation, encouraging economic growth and innovation in Delhi.
  • Leveraging AI in Governance, promiting the use of AI and emerging technologies in governance to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability

The competition is supported by GGSIPU’s Incubation and Innovation Fund and AICTE IDEA Lab. One of the unique aspects of this ideathon is its mentorship framework, which provides participants with guidance from experienced mentors and domain experts.

The competition consists of four stages:

  1. Stage 1: Online Round – Online submission of ideas from December 28, 2024 to January 18, 2025.
  2. Stage 2: Mentor’s Handholding – Shortlisted teams will work with mentors from January 24 to January 31, 2025.
  3. Stage 3: Physical Evaluation- Evaluation of shortlisted ideas on February 1, 2025
  4. Stage 4: The Grand Finale- The final event will be held on February 4, 2025, where the winning teams will be announced.

The winning teams will receive cash prizes, with the first prize being ₹5,00,000, the second prize being ₹3,00,000, and the third prize being ₹1,00,000.

GGSIPU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma has encouraged Delhi’s students to participate in the competition, stating that it is an opportunity for them to contribute to making Delhi a smarter city.
