The registration for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 has opened officially for foreign nationals, such as candidates having Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) status. As per the latest notification, the registration window was opened on April 7, 2025, and will be open until May 2. Those who are eligible can apply online through the official JEE Advanced website, which is jeeadv.ac.in.
This initial registration period is particularly reserved for foreign applicants, such as those whose OCI or PIO cards were initially issued on or after March 4, 2021. Furthermore, applicants who have been granted OCI or PIO prior to the specified date and are interested in applying under the foreign national category can also register. For all of these applicants, timely submission is essential, since the deadline for paying the application fee is May 5, 2025, by 5:00 pm.
The fee for applying for JEE Advanced 2025 is Rs 3,200 for the majority of candidates. Concessions have been made to female candidates and candidates from reserved categories, with a fee of Rs 1,600. After filling the form, the candidate has to pay the respective fee online and submit the application to ensure that they are appearing for the exam.
The JEE Advanced 2025 examination will be conducted on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The candidates’ response sheets will be posted on the official website on May 22, giving aspirants a chance to verify their responses. The examination results are likely to be declared by June 2, opening the door to the next phase of the admission process into the elite Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
It should be noted that the registration of candidates qualifying through the JEE Main 2025 will open later. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has planned this registration to open on April 23, 2025, at 10:00 am. Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2025 will be able to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. This shortlisting will be done on the basis of performance in JEE Main, which is ongoing now with the April session ending on April 9. Answer key for the April session would come out within a week of the exam’s end. Following past trends, the results of JEE Main 2025 are expected to be announced on April 19.
Candidates clearing the JEE Advanced 2025 will be eligible to be part of the Joint Seat Allocation process conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). JoSAA manages the IITs’ admission process, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). The schedule for seat allocation will be notified separately by JoSAA after the results are declared.
JEE Advanced remains one of the toughest and most coveted engineering entrance exams in India, drawing the best academic brains from all over the country and even overseas. It is the passport to India’s premier engineering colleges, mainly the IITs, which are globally acclaimed for their academic brilliance and research work. With the foreign nationals’ registration process on its way and the domestic applicants’ registration process looming, the clock has started ticking for one of the country’s most competitive exams.
While aspirants are gearing up for the day of reckoning on May 18, it is important that they remain current with the official announcements and follow the deadlines set by the authorities. Proper registration, sufficient preparation, and proper knowledge of the exam pattern and syllabus will be the success mantra in JEE Advanced 2025.
