In a major move for future doctors nationwide, the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has announced the inclusion of 29 seats—including MCh (Master of Chirurgiae) and DNB (Diplomate of National Board) programs—in the second round of counseling for the NEET Super Speciality (SS) 2024. The action is intended to improve prospects for applicants competing for super specialty medical education and training in India, and it is a welcome relief for those who have been anxiously anticipating the chance to pursue their chosen field. 

The NEET SS is a national entrance test for a variety of DM/MCh and DNB Super Speciality programs offered by government and private medical schools throughout the nation. It serves as the foundation for admission into in-demand programs and is administered by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India, through the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), manages the counseling process centrally under the MCC. 

Because the MCC site’s institutional profiling was incomplete, the newly added seats were not listed in the original seat matrix that was released for Round 1. The official statement released by the MCC said that some DNB institutions had not completed their institutional information in time, causing their places to be left out of the first phase.
