According to the official notification issued by NTA, the entrance tests—AIEEA (PG) and AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD)—will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. ICAR entrance tests are held to assess eligibility and provide admission into various postgraduate and doctoral degree courses in agricultural and allied sciences of ICAR-affiliated universities.
The entrance examination will be conducted on July 3, 2025. Applications must be submitted by the candidates online at the official NTA ICAR examination portal: https://exams.nta.ac.in/ICAR/. The successful transaction of the application fee through credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI up to June 6, 2025, at 11 PM is the last date. Additionally, a correction window will be provided from June 7 to June 9, 2025, during which applicants can correct any mistakes in their submitted application forms.
The exams shall be in an objective mode and shall comprise MCQs, with the exam medium being English. The total test duration shall be 120 minutes (2 hours). The candidates shall answer the paper on a computer at specified test centers throughout the nation, as is the case in the CBT mode.
The official bulletin, now released on the NTA’s ICAR exam website, includes detailed information on eligibility criteria, exam scheme, syllabus, list of examination centres, fee structure, and procedure for submitting applications. Candidates are requested to read the bulletin carefully to learn about all the requirements and procedures prior to submitting their application. This will prevent any step in the application process from being omitted and the details submitted being accurate and current.
The National Testing Agency, a government-funded autonomous institution of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has been organizing ICAR exams for years. Again this year, NTA has been given the responsibility to organize the AIEEA (PG) and AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD) exams, re-establishing its position as a credible and efficient administrator of high-stakes national-level entry tests.
Students who wish to get admission in postgraduate (PG) and doctoral (PhD) courses in ICAR-approved universities are highly advised to apply much in advance to prevent any technical glitches at the last moment. The entrance test is a door for candidates who want to pursue higher studies and research in different areas of agriculture, including agronomy, horticulture, soil science, genetics and plant breeding, animal sciences, and others.
For any clarification or help for the application process, the candidates may contact the NTA Help Desk at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700.
