The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 Session 2 results on April 17. Candidates who appeared in the exams held between April 2 and April 9 can access the results on the official portals: jeemain.nta.nic.in, nta.ac.in, and examinationservices.com. Candidates need their JEE Main application number and password or date of birth to view their scorecards.
This year, the second JEE Main session tested Paper 1 for BE/BTech students, Paper 2A for BArch students, and Paper 2B for applicants seeking admission in BPlanning programmes. The exams were conducted in different shifts and cities of India. To maintain fairness in the assessment process, the NTA follows a normalisation approach in calculating percentiles. This is particularly crucial considering the differences in difficulty levels between shifts. The percentile score differs from the percentage. The formula applied for normalisation is:
Total Percentile (T1P) = (100 × Number of candidates with raw scores equal to or less than T1 score) / Total number of candidates in the session.
In addition to the results, the NTA will also declare the final answer key, toppers list, and category-wise cut-off marks. All these details will be released on the same day. The last answer key is developed after thoroughly going through all objections filed by candidates against the provisional answer key, which was up for challenge until April 13. Each objection is reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts before deciding on the final version of the answer key, which is then utilized to determine candidates’ scores.
The JEE Main examination is a decisive process for lakhs of engineering enthusiasts from all over the nation. Crossing the cut-off of the JEE Main makes one eligible to enter a few of the country’s premier technical institutions. Individuals who get or surpass the prescribed cut-off will be found suitable for entering the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs).
Additionally, the JEE Main also acts as a portal to the JEE Advanced exam, which is the subsequent step for students hoping to gain admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The top 2.5 lakh candidates from both sessions of JEE Main 2025 shall be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced, to be conducted later this year.
After the declaration of results, shortlisted candidates will have to prepare for the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling procedure, which regulates seat allocation for BTech and BArch courses in IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. JoSAA counselling is a very competitive and formal procedure, wherein admissions are provided on the basis of JEE scores, candidate choices, and seat availability in concerned institutions.
In recent years, competition has become sharper, especially for premier branches such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). As per earlier trends, shuttling up for OBC-NCL category students to premier NITs such as NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, and NIT Delhi have increased greatly. Experts suggest that the same trend may hold good for the year 2025 and, therefore, aspirants must be well updated and proactive in the admission procedure.
To verify their results, candidates will have to log in to the official JEE Main website and click on the link titled “JEE Main Session 2 Result 2025.” Candidates will be led to a login page, and they will have to provide their application number along with other required credentials. The JEE Main 2025 scorecard will be displayed on successful login. Applicants are instructed to save and download a copy of the result for future reference, in particular during counselling and document verification.
The publication of the JEE Main results is an important milestone in the academic process of engineering aspirants. It is not just the culmination of months of effort and hard work for many but also the start of the next stage in the journey of their higher education. With more competition and fewer seats available in premier institutes, each mark matters. Thus, parents and students are encouraged to remain aware of official notices, have documents ready, and start shortlisting institutes and branches on the basis of anticipated scores and last year’s trends.
With the countdown starting for the result declaration, the students are eager and anxious. The NTA has again emphasized its dedication to transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the administration and assessment of the JEE Main exam.
